“Ambition and goal-setting are essential to the path of life, but they will get you in trouble on the Path of Spirit.”

The Path of Spirit is surrender.  It is trust that Great Spirit will help, guide, guard, and protect us.  When our faith in these truths is smaller than a mustard seed we feel the need to problem solve, set goals, strive, and evaluate ourselves and others. When our desires do not unfold in the way we want, in the way we feel is needed, we may lose faith in Spirit.  But, a trust that happens only when things go our own way is not trust.

Often we believe that Spirit is promising us things and then not delivering those promises.  We hear that if we follow certain rules, work on certain processes, and practice certain disciplines then Spirit will reward us.  One has only to read the lives of the Saints to discover that Spirit did not save them from the pain, grief, fear, and anger of the world.
So, why follow Spirit at all?

We can choose Spirit and the spiritual path because it teaches us to hold, and know, the possibilities of love, peace, kindness, and generosity regardless of what is happening around us or to us.

This is what the Saints understood; that when we surrender to Spirit we are surrounded with peace even when nothing in the outer world has changed.

Queen of All Saints 3

Humans are very attached to struggling.
We strive to be perfect.
We try to succeed.
When we are not struggling and striving we quickly become bored.

  • What if we allowed ourselves to laugh more often?
  • What if we appreciated the small joys of each day?
  • What if we saw life with spirit eyes?
  • What if today we make other people more important than we are?
  • What if today was your last day on earth?

As I awaken this day to Great Spirit’s Dream,
As I walk in the light of truth,
May I remember that I don’t have to be perfect.
Teach me to accept my personal challenges
and minimize their effects
in the lives of the people around me.

Teach me to live as though my only job
Was to create love, laughter, kindness
and joy in the world.
Help me to accept myself
And all others as who they are.
Assist me to make my life story
into an Angel’s Life Story.

Attitude is Everything

Attitude is the external expression of inner beliefs.  If we are afraid of being hurt, we will demonstrate timidity or anger.  If we are filled with confidence there will be nothing we are unwilling to try.  What would you do with your life if you knew you could not fail?

Remember that human beings always have the gift of divine creative decision but even the universe has laws that must be followed.

Some of the rules to remember are:

  • Maybe means NO
  • Try three times and then wait before trying again

Some questions to help clarify decisions are:

  • Will this be harmful to me or to others?
  • How will Great Spirit be served if this comes to pass?
  • Will I still want this in a week, a month, or a year?
  • How is this in alignment with my vows and promises?

Immovable, stationary, permanent objects tend to present humans with the desire to challenge them.  This is especially true if we did not put them into place.  This is the nature of human beings, that there should be no mountain unclimbed, no land unexplored, no river untraveled, and no law unquestioned.

So why, in our personal lives do we attempt to create permanent unchanging ideas, structures, and plans?  The next time we realize we are becoming hidebound, in our relationships, work, family, ideas, etc., let’s stop, take a deep breath and leave some room for change: growing room.

Get an attitude!  Where your attitude (thought) is, there is your life. What is your attitude? What thoughts occupy most of your time? Is it concern over abundance? Lack of opportunity? Your place of employment or lack thereof? Your health, prosperity, adventure, relationships? What thoughts occupy most of your time?  This is your attitude.

Attitudes can be changed.  Attitudes can be enhanced. Get an attitude this day.  Create an attitude of joy, love, freedom, healing, and peace.  Express this attitude fully. Decide what you want to manifest. Think accordingly, behave accordingly, and act accordingly.

Thank you Great Spirit for bringing challenges to my life
so I can grow, be adaptable
and develop my creativity.

Help me to live enthusiastically
and joyfully each day.
May I let go of my fear of change
that I may welcome divine inspiration.
May I let go of pain that I may feel the love of others.
May I let go of separation that I may establish belonging.

Great Spirit help me remember
that in all the emptying and filling up
I am improving, becoming more beautiful
and more spirit filled every day.

I declare this to be true:
The world above me is restored in beauty.
The world below me is restored in beauty.
The world behind me is restored in beauty.
The world before me is restored in beauty.
All things around me are restored in beauty.
It is so!  It is so!  It is so!

Sometimes change is our friend.  Sometimes change is an enemy.

Change seems to be our friend when it comes when we call, allows us to be in control of our destiny, and when it brings us positive reinforcement.

Change appears to be our enemy when it shows up unexpectedly, when it is hard work to make even a little progress, and when it means having more work to do.

Past facts cannot be changed.  For example- the sun rose or set at a certain time on a certain day, or a leaf fell from a tree, or one’s house burned to the ground, or one’s car was totaled, or someone we love died.  We can’t change the fact that these things happened- BUT we can change how we feel, think, and act about those facts.

When an image arises that we find difficult or unpleasant we can take time to recreate our reaction to that experience- instead of revisiting all of the trauma and emotion connected to it.  Revisiting the story puts us back into the past emotions and sends us to hell.

It is a gift of human beings to be able to make things happen.  The hardest part of this creative gift, is changing things that have become habitual.  If we create mental and emotional dependence on something or someone then over time this becomes an addiction. Addiction is walking the same path so many times it becomes unconscious.

We can allow our lives to happen differently by practicing awareness over and over again.  Today- I will do something different, think something different, and practice forgetting my old stories!  I will make some New Stories!

Imagine the kind of changes you could create in your life.  Observe the addictions you are preserving in your life.  Focus on what you really want, instead of what you don’t want.

Earth changes and personal changes are often destructive in the beginning.  Being a creator means knowing some things may need to be eliminated in order for something new to grow. The path of spirit is perfecting your skills as a creator of love, joy, and peace in vast abundance.

 Great Spirit
You have demonstrated magic
in the creations of the universe.
You have made great, majestic, awe-inspiring beauty
on thought at a time.

Teach me to recognize You
in the most unlikely of places.
If I see You everywhere-
what magics of mighty love might I be
capable of expressing?
Show me how to change my world
one beautiful thought at a time.

Angels of Creation- may I be as excited
about my new potentials and possibilities
as you were at helping create the universe.
When there are challenges and problems
help me to see them as adventures.

Beloved Spirit, if I refuse
to know any truth but Yours
what might be possible today?
May I fear not the darkness of the past
or the possible darkness to come-
for even in darkness I can still find You!
